Daniel Langewisch

Campus Pastor, Valley Creek Campus in Woodbury

Tell us a little about you and your family:
I was born and raised in Denver, CO as a PK (pastor’s kid). I went to college at Concordia Nebraska where I met my wife Kali. We got married in 2018 and have two little kids, Naomi and Micah, who bring so much joy to our lives.

Although it's hard to pick just one, what is your "Verse to live by:"
My verse to live by is Luke 5:31, "Jesus answered them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent.” Transformation in my life has come from realizing more and more that the heart of Jesus is one that sees a child who is sick, hurting, and broken—like me—and instead of turning away, He draws near.

What are your favorite things/hobbies to do in your free time?
My favorite hobbies include spending time with my family, exercising, playing strategic board games, and editing videos for the board game YouTube channel my brother and I run.

Tell us a little about your past roles, education, or anything else you'd like us to know:
After graduating from Concordia University Nebraska, I attended Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. During my third year, I completed a year-long Vicarage (internship) at Woodbury Lutheran Church. After returning to the seminary for my final year, I was called back to Woodbury Lutheran Church in 2023 as Valley Creek Campus Pastor and Hospitality/Assimilation Lead. Since then, I have transitioned from overseeing Hospitality and Assimilation to serving as the Director of Discipleship at WLC.

What is one thing that people might be surprised to learn about you?
I love to dance. Whether it is at a wedding or in my kitchen, I love music and I’ve got some moves to go along with it. I especially love dancing with my kids to our favorite tunes.

What is your favorite thing about Woodbury Lutheran Church?
My favorite thing about WLC is the way we love people with both grace and truth. We are firmly rooted in God’s Word, letting it guide everything we do. Yet that grounding never leads us to religious judgment. Instead, we follow Jesus, who looked at the helpless and broken and met them with compassion rather than dismissal. Woodbury Lutheran Church is a place that embraces people with that same compassion and points them to their Savior, Jesus.
