The thing that brings me the most joy in my teaching day is all the sweet hugs I receive and the sound of little voices calling out, ‘Miss Kena!’—even when it’s meant to be ‘Miss Makena.’ Their cheerful mispronunciation never fails to make me smile and reminds me how special our bond is. I also love singing songs with my students; hearing their joyful, pure voices joining in fills the classroom with such warmth and makes every moment feel meaningful. These simple, heartfelt interactions are what brighten my days and make teaching such a blessing.
