Now standing before the Roman governor, Jesus is actually given an opportunity to make his defense. Pilot sees no wrong in Jesus and even gives him the opportunity to defend himself. Yet, despite doing nothing wrong, Jesus makes no defense. He remains silent, and in doing so, he accepts the guilty verdict that awaits him for the sins of the world being placed on his shoulders.
