Passage: Matthew 26:47-56
As Judas and the crowd of men arrive to arrest Jesus, they come expecting a fight. They come armed with swords and clubs. Even Jesus' own disciple fought back with his sword. Yet, Jesus' response to unjust violence being brought against him is not to run away or fight back, but to heal the very ear of his accuser. In this radical act, Jesus paves the way for how his followers would respond to unjust attacks from an antagonistic world.
