Passage: John 10:11-21

The idea of sheep and shepherd was common in both the Old and New Testaments. The prophet Ezekiel compares the leaders of Israel to shepherds who have led their sheep astray.  Ezekiel along with Isaiah also claim that God will look after His sheep, He will rescue them.  When Jesus says, “I am the good shepherd.” He is calling Himself the Great “I Am.” He is the Good Shepherd that all people need.
