Passage: Romans 7:15-25
While the 7 deadly sins are not directly mentioned in the bible, there are parallels with the seven things God is said to hate in the book of Proverbs. “Haughty eyes, lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.” – Proverbs 6:16-19. The deceit of the 7 deadly sins is to pull us away from the Truth of the love and promises of God, and deceive us into thinking these other things will fulfill and satisfy us.
