Passage: Luke 10:25-37
Jesus reduced the entire Bible into one command: Love God with everything you have and love your neighbor as yourself. Yet, what if your neighbor is not some ambiguous group out there but the specific individuals who live right around you? Real people with real lives. In The Great Commandment, Jesus pushes against our Western Culture of isolation with a model where your life is centered around two things: loving God and loving your neighbor. Yet, to begin this journey of loving your neighbor, it starts with a critical first step: knowing who they are.
