When Jesus rode into Jerusalem on the donkey all those centuries ago, everyone in the city wanted to know “Who is this?” Nobody understood the significance of Jesus’ first “triumphal entry.” But when Jesus returns on the white horse as “King of kings and Lord of lords,” his triumph will be hidden from nobody. On this Palm Sunday, we celebrate Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem to die and rise again as the beginning of the end of this age; the day is soon coming when we will wave palm branches not to celebrate Palm Sunday, but to praise our God face to face around his throne (Rev 7:9-10).
